Nodes Change Signs

On July 17, the nodes of the Moon are changing signs. The lunar nodes, also known as the dragon’s tail and the dragon’s head, asks us to purge and release on the one end while leaning into karmic purpose on the other, evaluating where we’ve been, maybe in past lives and the value of the lessons we’ve learned, while also letting go of what no longer serves us in order to move into the newness of what this life time has to offer.

The nodes are always retrograde, moving backwards, and changing signs each year. By moving backwards through the psychospiritual wheel of the zodiac, in some ways, the axis on which the nodes operate is simpler, more basic, and more fundamental. The nodes teach us the profound wisdom of getting down to the basics.

The nodal shift gives us an opportunity to re-orient to the dragon’s tail or where we’ve been. For the past year with South Node in Scorpio, you’ve been releasing deeply embedded beliefs, psychological imprints, and compulsive or obsessive tendencies, maybe your tendency to bear down and burrow deep. We also have an opportunity to focus our gaze toward where we’re going. With the North Node in Taurus, you’ve leaned into karmic purpose by attending to the present and the material, coming back to the surface and grounding in the present moment.

Reorienting to what’s mine and what’s ours has set the stage for the next year, where we’ll have the opportunity to re-evaluate ourselves as individuals in the context of our relationships, as the North Node shifts into Aries and the South Node into Libra.

Maybe it’s time to release people-pleasing tendencies that no longer serve us and lean into the animated and dynamic life force produced by leaning into our individual desire.

The New Moon in Cancer joins in, squaring the transiting nodes. Cancer mediates the tension between self and other by asking us to attune to the feeling sense of the other, while also centering and taking seriously our own emotional landscape. Cancer teaches that when we express what we truly feel and what we truly want, we draw others toward us who are willing to meet our needs, and willing to withstand and stay connected to us in the fire that is our truest desires.

Read below for how the transits of the lunar nodes will affect your sign (for the most accuracy, read for your Rising/Ascendant sign, but Sun and Moon signs also work)
