Astrology for the Year 2025

Major Transits of 2025

Dec. 6, 2024 to Feb. 23, 2025: Mars retrograde (Rx) in Leo and Cancer

  • Mars in Leo - archetype of the one-true king; fighting for recognition

  • Mars in Cancer - conservation principle; fighting to protect, defend, and maintain what’s yours (resources, people, positions); fighting for personal security

Jan. 2: Mars Rx opposite Pluto

  • Power struggles between how you strive for individual significance and for your contributions to be recognized by the greater society.

Jan. 30: Lunar nodes change signs from Aries-Libra to Pisces-Virgo

  • Aries-Libra: karmic growth comes from releasing people-pleasing tendencies and embracing the process of individuation by centering your desires

  • Pisces-Virgo: karmic growth comes from learning to blend into all that is in order to tap into the source of Divine wisdom; releasing rigidity and overwhelm that comes from getting lost in the details and embracing growth that comes from connecting to the feeling sense, spiritual, transpersonal (empathy as the medicine)

Mar. 1 to Apr. 12: Venus retrograde in Aries and Pisces

  • Venus retrograde is a time to reflect and reassess our relationships, what we attract and are attracted to, and our finances (or any part of our lives where we transact to get what we want)

  • Venus in Aries - an area of life where we usually succeed by being direct, bold, assertive, and putting our own desires first may need to be re-worked

  • Venus in Pisces - Venus does well in this sign; however, maybe we’re not receiving the support we’re used to in this area of life and have to reassess who and what we enlist in order to get the goods

Mar. 14 to Apr. 7: Mercury Rx in Aries and Pisces

  • Mercury in Aries - conflicts, fights, arguments, and quibbles over misunderstandings

  • Mercury in Pisces - critical or necessary information isn’t getting transmitted, interpreted correctly, or understood

Mar. 30: Neptune enters Aries where it will remain until 2039 (after a brief retrograde into Pisces later this year)

  • Last time Neptune was in Aries was from 1862 to 1875

    • United States Civil War, Reconstruction, and the end of Reconstruction and beginning of Jim Crow (U.S. Apartheid)

    • Expansion of European colonialism

    • The Geneva Convention - more advanced and brutal forms of warfare, but now there are rules / articulation of what “civilized” warfare should (emphasis on should) be

    • Karl Marx publishes Das Kapital and Charles Darwin publishes Origin of Species - social theory that defines the modern era

  • Willing to fight for idealistic, philosophical, and spiritual beliefs - willing to put effort and energy behind it

  • Global events are fast and dynamic

  • Neptune in Pisces since 2011 has witnessed the flourishing and mainstreaming of alternative spiritual beliefs as well as increased conspiracy theories and mass disinformation

  • Now in Aries, Neptune might have people willing to defend, fight, and assert those beliefs, which may lead to clashes

Apr. 4: Saturn sextile Uranus

  • How do powerful, even authoritarian institutions work toward a narrative of human progress (i.e. when Saturn-Uranus squared in 2021, we saw the global mass vaccination campaign - both a story of the power of global governance, the ways in which people are suspicious of that power, but also of technological breakthroughs in healthcare)?

May 24: Saturn enters Aries

  • While the mythos of Saturn in Pisces is the farmer that tills the land, the mythos of Saturn in Aries is the father who eats his own children in order to prevent them from taking his position of power. While this turns out to be counter-productive (Saturn is overthrown by his children anyways who then banish him and the rest of the Old Guard, ushering in the era of the Olympians), at its base, Saturn is a kind of anti-hero who realizes that as human civilization moves away from natural time to linear time, we’ve become more destructive toward ourselves and to the planet. Saturn yearns for a return to natural time and time-cycles.

  • Saturn in Aries is the anti-hero - Saturn’s methods are slow, methodical, and inherently conservative; Aries is fast, impulsive, inexperienced, and dynamic

  • Knowing what the right thing is, but not having the means to do it because we exist in a climate that is moving too fast. This can lead to burn-out, unwise or counterproductive decision-making; OR, we become battle-tested, gaining Saturnian wisdom by facing each challenge head on, and living each day to fight another day

Jun. 9: Jupiter enters Cancer

  • The planet of paternal fertility in the sign of maternal fertility - what can grow and flourish in this season of increased fertility?

Jun. 15: Jupiter square Saturn

  • Jupiter in Gemini square Saturn in Pisces last fall meant conflict between the facts on the ground and what feels real (even if it’s not) but connects us to our feeling sense i.e. conspiracy, misinformation; realizing we each live in echo chambers that have kept us disconnected

  • Jupiter now in Cancer square Saturn now in Aries - foundations of belonging and stories about origin - where do we come from, with whom do we identify and why does it matter, against a culture of individuation - how can own impulse, egos, desires, willpower manifest the realities we desire?

  • Jupiter is connecting back to our origin stories while Saturn is challenging us to better refine, control, and understand the power of our own will. We may realize that we do not fully understand our own desires, and why we tell ourselves the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, where we come from, and why we want the things out of life that we want.

Jul. 7: Uranus enters Gemini until 2033 (after a brief retrograde later this year)

  • Free thinking

  • Education as radical and revolutionary

  • Civil wars, partitions, brothers against brothers (archetype of the twin)

  • Class consciousness

    • With Uranus in Taurus since 2018, we experienced fluctuations in our quality of life. Now, Gemini makes us conscious and able to articulate the systems that are responsible for this.

Jul. 17 to Aug. 11: Mercury retrograde in Leo

  • Mercury - misunderstandings can arise when ego and pride get in the way

Sep. 1: Saturn Rx into Pisces

  • Revisiting themes from 2023 to the beginning of this year - how do we responsibly engage with the spiritual in order to deepen our compassion without disillusioning or overwhelming ourselves?

Oct. 22: Neptune Rx into Pisces

  • Revisiting Neptune in Pisces themes: alternative spirituality, conspiracy theories, misinformation and disinformation, the power of social media and internet culture to inspire but also to disillusion

Nov. 7: Uranus Rx into Taurus

  • Revisiting themes related to quality of life and cost of living
