Astrology for the Year 2024

Welcome to the Age of Aquarius: Major Transits for the Year Ahead

Pluto in Aquarius: January 21

  • Welcome to the Age of Aquarius. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was from 1778 to 1798, when the U.S. officially formed, Europe engaged in its “Age of Discovery,” the age of colonialism, imperialism, social revolutions, and crystallization of the global color line, but also the birth of the modern, rational man and the model of liberal democracy.

  • While Capricorn undermined the structures of society we’ve come to depend on from 2008 to 2024, Aquarius undermines the process of social change itself - how do we rebuild the social fabric when the old customs, traditions, and paths to success no longer exist?

Mercury Retrograde in Aries: April 2

  • In March, Mercury will hit the North Node in Aries direct before going retrograde. This could mean that we will find opportunities to learn, talk about, and communicate in the area of life that represents the dragon’s head - karmic growth that comes from letting go of people pleasing tendencies and self-effacement and leaning into individual desire, willpower, and putting yourself first.

  • When Mercury goes retrograde, it will be a continuation of the themes that started when Mercury retrograded in Sagittarius in December 2023. If Sagittarius represents the big ideas that animate the life force, Aries represents the life force itself. In April, you may experience blockages in getting what it is you truly desire; however, working through these blockages may bring clarity in how best to channel your power, will, and personal drive.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus: April 21

  • Jupiter in Taurus since Spring 2023 has asked us to indulge (or overindulge) while Uranus in Taurus since 2018 has shaken up the very idea of what we need in order to live the good life. When these two planets conjunct, it may bring illumination to how the instability we’ve experienced in our material affairs has paved the way for a new relationship to money matters, materialism and consumerism, our quality of life, and whether or not what we value is truly a reflection of what we own.

  • Political instability and social movements, particularly reactionary movements

Jupiter in Gemini: May 26

  • The high teacher in the sign of the low teacher - the profound wisdom that comes from attending to the specifics, the details, the mundane, the channels and networks through which we transmit the information of daily life that we need to know

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo/Leo: August 5

  • We may need to re-evaluate an area of life where our work and effort is most needed while reflecting on how we tap into creativity, passion, and soulful endeavors in order to connect with our authentic selves.

  • If Sagittarius is the higher beliefs that animate the life force and Aries is the life force itself, then Leo is the life force solidifying itself into the creative principle.

Jupiter square Saturn: August 20

  • Saturn and Jupiter conjuncted at end of 2020 in Aquarius, ushering in a 20-year cycle focused on systems of social order, governance, and progress.

  • Now that we’re four years into that cycle, we hit a quarter crisis. Saturn now in Pisces (following Jupiter-Neptune in Pisces) has us refining our spiritual, emotive, and empathetic capacities, divining wisdom received from the unknown, ancestral, and divine, trusting our intuition and our deeper feeling sense.

  • On the other hand, Jupiter is bringing opportunities to communicate, learn, study, and share information, asking us to pay attention to the objective facts and details on the ground. This could lead to a potential crisis of truth. How do we know what’s real and what’s conspiracy? What truths lie in the stories that feel true even if the facts don’t actually line up? How do we connect with the universal feeling sense of humanity when people live in different echo chambers - tapped into different sources of information that limit their access to true connection?

Pluto Retrogrades into Capricorn: September 2

  • As a collective, we may revisit themes from the last 16 years, specifically from the beginning of 2023 and 2024

  • Financial systems, banking

Pluto transits back into Aquarius: November 21

  • Global systems of governance and social movements

Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius: November 26

  • Revisiting themes related to higher belief systems, faith, religion, philosophy

  • Fire, the animating life force, gives way to Water, the subconscious thread that connects the life force to its Source

Mars Retrograde in Leo: December 7

  • Battles over the One True King

  • Collective action versus individual ego needs

  • Struggle to live out the creative principle of life

  • Charismatic figureheads
